Vehicle Description 1937 Packard 1502 Super Eight Convertible Sedan.
SEE VIDEO TEST DRIVE.
Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.
This beautifully rare Super Eight Convertible Sedan was delivered on April 26, 1937 by Eastman Motors of Stamford, Connecticut.
While the original owner is unknown, we are told it is presumed to have been a well-heeled family for use at their Connecticut summer estate.
The car saw limited use before eventually making its way to California where it lived for many years in excellent condition, receiving a show-quality restoration a little over a decade ago.
Everything was done to make this car a standout on the show field, and on the road.
The body was refinished in deep Packard Blue with Ivory striping.
It shows beautifully today.
I recently noted one scuff on the very bottom edge of the right front fender (see photo) which is very hard to see but I do want to mention it.
All chrome was replated.
The interior was upholstered in correct leather in a lovely butterscotch tan color.
It is beautiful.
All interior trim was woodgrained and replated.
New glass throughout.
A new Haartz cloth convertible top was sewn and fitted.
The engine and drivetrain were rebuilt at the time of restoration and a GEAR VENDOR ELECTRIC OVERDRIVE ADDED.
This car is an absolute pleasure to drive around town or at freeway speeds.
The hydraulic 4-wheel brakes stop the car smooth and straight.
Excellent radial wide whitewall tires with just a few hundred miles on the road.
The electrical system is the original 6 volt positive ground, with an inverter added for the overdrive and addition of a Secret Audio(TM) AM/FM radio and 10-disc CD changer that are hidden in the glove box and trunk.
The sound comes through the original Packard speaker on the firewall.
The original Packard radio tuner is in-place in the dashboard.
A very nice installation that will pass the scrutiny of show judges yet give you your choice of tunes on the road.
Following restoration, this car was shown and toured throughout the west both in the Classic Car Club of America and Packards International.
It now has a little over 5,000 miles since restoration.
In CCCA Grand Classic judging it received its Primary First Place award, scoring in the high-90
point range.
A very low production car when new, it is estimated that less than 10 of these cars survive today.
I have personally driven this car and it performs beautifully.
(I have also owned two, 1937 Packard Super Eights so am in a good position to compare.
) This car needs nothing and is ready to go anywhere.
If you have been looking for a wonderful car, you would be hard-pressed to find a finer combination of rarity, quality and drive-ability.
This Packard has it all.
Be sure to see the video test drive.
Realistically priced in keeping with its quality, rarity and condition.
